DECLARATION OF DESIRE TO RESUME AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP
If you are unsure whether you lost your Australian citizenship prior to 4 April 2002 by taking up citizenship of another country, please read the following information:
See: Loss of Citizenship - DIAC Website
It may be possible for a person who has lost their Australian citizenship to resume Australian citizenship.
The ways of re-acquiring your citizenship vary depending on how citizenship was lost and whether the person was an adult or a child at the time.
Requirements for resumption of citizenship are listed on form 132. This includes the documentation you are required to submit with your application.
See: Form 132 - DIAC Website
Please note: All documents submitted with your application must be originals or copies certified at an Australian Embassy or Australian Consulate General.
See: Australian missions
You will also need to provide certified translations of original documents that are not in English.
Please consult http://www.citizenship.gov.au/ for more information.
