Document Translation

If you require a list of certified translators in France, please consult the French yellow pages.

Any French sworn translator ("traducteur assermenté") is authorised to translate documents that are requested for any DIAC application lodged in any DIAC office.
Please note that the DIAC Paris office accepts documents in both French and English for all applications lodged and processed in Paris (except for citizenship resumption/grant/evidence/renunciation).

It is therefore unnecessary to translate French documents into English for an application which will be lodged and processed in the DIAC Paris office unless you have previously been requested to do so by a DIAC Paris case officer.

Document Certification

If you are required to provide certified photocopies of documents for any application, or have a signature legalised on any given document, you may have documents or signatures certified by a Notary Public ("Notaire Publique"), Lawyer ("Avocat") or certain French Town Halls ("Mairie").

Contact details in France for each of these can be found in the French yellow pages.

Statutory Declarations

Statutory Declarations cannot be issued outside Australia. If you are required to provide a statutory declaration as part of a visa application, a signed and dated statement accompanied by a certified photocopy of the author's identity document will be sufficient in most cases.
