GRANT OF AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP FOR AN ADOPTED CHILD OVERSEAS
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
An Australian parent may apply on behalf of their adopted child for grant of citizenship provided the child is under 18 years of age and is in possession of a valid permanent residency visa.
In usual circumstances children adopted overseas will not be granted Australian citizenship unless:
* an adoptive parent has resided overseas for 12 months or more at the time of adoption, or
* the child has been re-adopted in Australia, or
* the overseas adoption has been recognized/verified in Australia.
WHAT SHOULD I PROVIDE?

In addition to the accompanying documentation listed on forms A1027i and B124 you will also need to enclose the correct application charge - please refer to the charges list.
